Tesla seems to have removed the unsafe following criteria from its Full Self-Driving (FSD) safety scores in the software update 2022.4.5.16, according to one driver who installed the new update on their Model 3 (via Reddit).

The user shared a screenshot of the safety score in the Tesla app, showing other previously included criteria hard braking, aggressive turning and forced Autopilot disengagement, but no longer includes the unsafe following.

Another owner chimed in to say they also saw the unsafe following criteria removed after they installed the update.

Another user noted that the metric had been removed once before though it had been replaced shortly thereafter, linking to a thread from three months ago with a similar question and screenshot.

Tesla’s Safety Score is determined from five safety factors: Forward Collision Warnings per 1,000 Kilometers, Hard Braking, Aggressive Turning, Unsafe Following and Forced Autopilot Disengagement. It may be a bug for these owners to see one of these major criteria to be removed.

Tesla’s FSD beta 10.12 began rolling out on Wednesday to U.S. customers and on Friday to Canadian customers, and drivers with a perfect safety score will be let into the beta program first.

Earlier this month, one YouTube channel shared a video depicting how to get a perfect 100 safety score for the FSD beta.

After a suggestion from Tesla Club San Diego, Elon Musk even OK’d an idea to apply safety scores to all Autopilot owners, meaning that the feature could still be offered for basic Autopilot functionality.

Prior to the release, Tesla had around 60 vehicles testing already in Canada but is set to expand the program significantly in the coming months.
