YouTuber Tobias Lindh on Saturday posted another construction update for Tesla’s Berlin-Brandenburg Gigafactory. This marks Lindh’s first aerial tour of Giga Berlin following the facility being awarded conditional approval to begin commercial production on Friday.

Lindh’s drone footage showcases a lot of progress at Giga Berlin, including asphalt carpeting on the trailer yard and new parking lot, street light installation and the expansion of road work, and even more progress on the on-site 4680 battery cell production building.

Perhaps most importantly, however, Lindh spotted a ton of Giga Berlin-made Model Y cars parked on the premises.

In recent weeks, dozens upon dozens of Model Y units produced at the facility have regularly been spotted outside, and Lindh offered up an explanation as to the purpose they serve in a follow-up tweet.

According to the YouTuber’s sources, approximately 1/3 of the Model Ys that can be seen parked outside Giga Berlin are destined to be scrapped and/or recycled, while the remaining 2/3 are for Tesla employees and internal use at the factory.

Construction at the facility looks to be progressing nicely, and according to a report from earlier this week, Tesla is aiming to build 1,000 cars per week at Giga Berlin by April.
