In order to see how many Model Y units Gigafactory Shanghai can produce in about ten minutes, one curious drone owner took to the skies this week to capture them coming out of the factory.
Wu Wa shared 4K drone footage highlighting 10 minutes of Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai as it outputs a number of Model Y units on Friday, also set to some satisfying lounge/waiting room music.
In the video, we can see a total of 18 units drive out of the production garage door in just about 10 minutes, which Wa says is up compared to his two previous tests. One car comes out roughly every 35 seconds or so, which is very impressive.
At the end of the video, Wa also shared a time-lapse of the period, showing the vehicles coming out at a much more rapid, and easily-countable speed.
In 2021, the Tesla Model Y was China’s best-selling electric SUV, so seeing these units come out of the factory at such a quick rate shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
The Model Y produced at Tesla’s Shanghai facility also now includes four cargo mounting hooks in the trunk, as spotted earlier this week in the unit’s owner’s manual.
On Friday, Tesla also shared a gift package for users in China offering unlimited Supercharging for the upcoming Lunar New Year.
