The most notable development is taking place at the battery cell facility on the premises, which can be seen expanding towards both the north and south. The construction team continues to cover the roof of the growing building.
Tesla today announced it would be withdrawing itself from consideration for a government grant for the battery cell manufacturing facility at Gigafactory Berlin, which would have been worth €1.14 billion ($1.28 billion USD) in government subsidies.
The drone footage also shows the first floor of Giga Berlin’s ‘Grand Lobby’ being worked on.
While construction proceeds across Giga Berlin, the car production factory at the site is almost ready to begin operation. Tesla is currently waiting on final permit approval for the factory from regional authorities before it begins production. The EV maker hopes to achieve volume production sometime next year.
Last week, the project cleared its second (and final) public objection period. Tesla still has Gigafactory Berlin pegged to start production sometime in December.
