CNBC has confirmed that Tesla’s Model S Plaid will be making its TV debut on an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, slated to air next month on November 10, as confirmed to Teslarati.

The episode, titled “Limited Edition”, will feature the former comedian and titular host of the show getting into the cockpit of his Model S Plaid at the Famoso Raceway, where the all-electric luxury sedan set a new record for the fastest 1/4-mile record in a production vehicle at 9.247 seconds, beating out the $2,998,000 USD 2018 Bugatti Chiron Sport’s previous record of 9.4 seconds.

An excerpt from the episode’s official synopsis reads:

Jay does his damnedest to demolish the already ludicrous world record for the fastest production vehicle ever in Tesla’s all-new Model S Plaid.

Leno was among the first to get his hands on a Model S Plaid, getting one before Tesla even started delivering the car.

During an interview with CNBC‘s Shepard Smith back in June, Leno talked about the Model S Plaid breaking the world record for fastest 1/4 mile time in a production car, and said that the Plaid is one of the best vehicles he’s ever driven.

“It was a winner,” he said. “I mean, it is now the fastest production car you can buy. Faster than any Ferrari, faster than any $3.5 million Bugatti.”

The Model S Plaid packs 1,020 horsepower, and goes from 0-60 MPH in an impressively low 1.99 seconds. The all-electric performance sedan gets 390 miles per charge.

The electric sedan is so fast it destroys all vehicles on drag strips, including modified sport bikes such as the Suzuki GSX-R1000, as seen below:

The Model S Plaid has proven to be one of the electric vehicle industry’s biggest feats so far — it quickly became the fastest car in the world, and it doesn’t cost nearly as much as “super” cars that set you back millions. The Model S Plaid is currently available on Tesla’s website for $129,990 USD.
