Tesla Gigafactory Texas Construction Update: August 23 [4K VIDEO]
Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas broke 8 million square feet earlier this month, and with the factory set to begin producing the company’s first Texas-made Model Y prototypes this month, construction is looking closer to completion than ever.
Terafactory Texas shared a new update on Tuesday, depicting 4K drone flyover footage of Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas construction site, taken on Monday, August 23, 2021.
Several updates to the site have been made in recent weeks, including updates to a north end frame assembly, final touches to the GigaPress area’s roofing, new roadway barriers in the northeast, and more.
Many of Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas updates include traffic infrastructural improvements, like a ramp-up to the factory from the nearby road and new barriers like curbs and lane markings guiding drivers along the frontage area.
Along with showing the factory nearing completion, a number of shots beneath the factory’s partially complete south end show the underside and one particular entry into the factory as crews complete the exterior walls to the section.
Upon completion, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said the Texas Gigafactory will span nearly a mile long, and with the Model Y still on track to begin delivering to customers from the Austin factory later this year, Tesla Model Y buyers in the U.S. may be able to get one from the first batch of Texas-manufactured deliveries.
