Tesla Model S Plaid Teases High-Performance Cars on Drag Strip [VIDEO]
The Tesla Model S Plaid has already set a number of records since its release in June, and a new video shows it dominating other performance cars at a raceway, even slowing down to let some try to catch up.
A video shared on Friday by Tesla Plaid Channel shows seven new Tesla Model S Plaid drag races, in which the Plaid is nearly taunting the other high-performance vehicles with how quick it is.
In the races, we can see the Plaid driver attempting to win, but by the smallest margin possible in most cases – which depicts how easily the EV can keep up and dominate other high-performing cars. The reason? The Model S Plaid owner was warned by the drag strip owner to slow down or get booted off the track, as the Tesla did not have a roll cage to support faster top speeds as per safety regulations.

In the video’s description, it explains that the race originally took place on July 31 at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida.
The original poster who shared the video to Reddit also took the time to link a few of the more impressive Model S Plaid victories in the video, complete with a fair bit of commentary to break down each race.
The Tesla Plaid Channel also has an evil laugh as it feathers the Model S Plaid’s throttle down the track on each win by a small margin, to ensure it does not get kicked off the drag strip. The channel was able to get ‘revenge’ against other cars that beat it last year when it was racing with a Model S Raven. But the Plaid is on another level, able to squeak out victories by the smallest of margins, down to 3/100ths of a second or so.
