Tesla Model S Plaid Acceleration Modes Compared [PIC]
The Tesla Model S Plaid has now been out for a month, and one user has broken down the electric sedan’s different acceleration modes, which determine how the vehicle launches.
A comparison sheet between the Tesla Model S Plaid’s different acceleration profiles has surfaced, and it shows how stark the contrast between each mode’s performance really is (via Reddit).
The comparison sheet lists performance reports from the Model S Plaid’s “Chill,” “Sport,” and “Plaid” acceleration modes, with the latter including versions with and without drag strip and cheetah modes activated.

In chill mode, the Model S Plaid takes 353.63 feet and 7.45 seconds to achieve a 60 mph speed. Alternatively, the opposite end of the spectrum has the vehicle’s Plaid mode on with both drag strip and cheetah modes activated, showing a 2.28-second 0 to 60 mph speed in a distance of just 103.65 feet.
Even without cheetah and drag strip activated, Plaid mode offers an impressive 2.45-second 0 to 60 in 110.72 feet, while Sport mode offers a relaxed, albeit jumpy acceleration, without being as fast as Plaid, it still offers an impressive 3.67-second 0 to 60 in just 161.98 feet.
Over the weekend, one auto journalist called the Tesla Model S Plaid the “best car ever created or invented,” and it’s certainly a tough claim to deny with the acceleration speeds it does have.
