Tesla’s Trademark Registration Now Includes Restaurant Services
Tesla’s services are gaining a larger and larger reach each year, but a new update may come as a surprise to some fans of the electric vehicle (EV) company and brand.
The company updated its Trademark on Tuesday to include various types of restaurant services, including traditional restaurants, pop-up restaurants, self-service restaurants, take-out restaurants.
The updated Trademark application is dated May 31, 2021, and includes legal protections for the company’s famed ‘T’ logo.

Tesla extends trademark registration to cover restaurant services, pop-up restaurant services, self-service restaurant services, take-out restaurant services.@WholeMarsBlog@DriveTeslaca@SawyerMerritt@28delayslater@Teslarati@teslamaghttps://t.co/Xx7gCYSv3X— Tesla_Adri (@tesla_adri) June 1, 2021
The trademark registration states that it “is intended to cover the categories of restaurant services, pop-up restaurant services, self-service restaurant services, take-out restaurant services.”
In the past, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that some Supercharger stations could include a 50s-style diner, but who knows if anyone would expect to see a Tesla-branded diner.
Still, the company is certainly looking to diversify its revenue streams, and, being able to stop and eat or shop while charging vehicles has been encouraged by the company in the past. At the very least, the updated trademark will prevent other companies from using the ‘T’ logo in a restaurant context.
While the Firebaugh, California Tesla Supercharger does have McDonald’s delivery from the on-site restaurant, it’s a curious move to see this filing pop up from Tesla.
