Tesla has been known to offer Supercharging specials, especially in China’s bolstering auto market, and in the latest discounted charge offerings, the U.S. company has announced plans in advance of Memorial Day weekend to offer discounted Supercharging during non-peak hours.

According to u/CStyles45, Tesla shared a memo to owners titled “Charge For Less this Memorial Day Weekend,” explaining that Memorial Day weekend travelers can enjoy up to 50% off on charging fees between Friday, May 28 and Monday, May 31 – so long as they go during off-peak hours to avoid the rush.

Tesla has been known to offer 50% off Supercharging during off-peak hours periodically.

The Supercharging promo runs before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m. on those dates, though the memo also includes that customers wanting more precise rate listings can “tap the Supercharger map pin on your in-car touchscreen starting this Friday.”

The move is likely an attempt for Tesla to help prevent backups and delays for Supercharger customers during peak travel hours on the holiday weekend – and hopefully it will do just that.

Fortunately, California travelers can look forward to a slightly better charging infrastructure than Tesla has had in years past. 36 new Tesla Superchargers appeared at Geary Street in San Francisco earlier this week, with 12 Superchargers also heading to Ripon.

Tesla also launched an official Supercharger account on Twitter, where it will announce upcoming Supercharger stations and other related announcements.
