Watch Tesla FSD Beta Drive Without Any Interventions in Washington, D.C. [VIDEO]
In his latest YouTube video, Kristoffer Wright showcases a no-intervention run from Chinatown to Downtown in Washington, D.C. with the latest iteration of Full-Self Driving beta enabled for the course.
Throughout the video, the Tesla can be seen holding tight lanes and making smooth left and right turns, and tracking obstacles and objects in its path with unprecedented accuracy.
Full Self-Driving beta flawlessly tracked concrete blocks and barriers in the neighboring lane, and made tiny adjustments in its trajectory to put respectable space between the vehicle and the obstacles.
FSD beta also makes a point to track cyclists in its surroundings comprehensively, and make quick, short stops when it detects pedestrians crossing.
Full Self-Driving gets a little closer to perfection with every update, but it is far from perfect at this point.
FSD could be seen hesitating to choose a lane at one point, and near the end of the video, FSD refused to overtake a pickup truck parked for a bit between its lane and the one on the left, despite there being ample space on the right and no traffic approaching the vehicle from behind.
Wright’s video is nice because he also details on-screen where the car is going and its intentions as well.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Friday the upcoming ‘download button’ for FSD beta coming with version 9.0 won’t be coming until next month, hopefully.
