Tesla Brings Back Enhanced Autopilot in Europe
Tesla’s Full Self-Driving beta has yet to release for the European market, and its Autopilot system recently ranked poorly in a European assessment.
According to a post on Reddit, Tesla has brought back its Enhanced Autopilot option for European customers. The update, as shared by Reddit user u/Tesladri on the Tesla Motors subreddit, essentially upgrades Tesla’s Autopilot system to similar functionality as the Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta, but without stop sign or traffic light responses, and at nearly half of the cost.
The option to purchase Enhanced Autopilot is also showing up in the Tesla mobile app. The feature brings Navigate on Autopilot, Auto Lane Change, Autopark and Summon.
While Enhanced Autopilot’s still no match for the full FSD, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously stated that FSD will be fully released later this year, which is likely to include some kind of release for the European market – even if it’s just in beta at first like it was in North America.
In either case, the upgrade to Enhanced Autopilot also grants many of the benefits of FSD but without the increased cost. Previously, Enhanced Autopilot was also available to North American customers, but was removed and replaced with the regular Autopilot system when the FSD beta started becoming available.
Regardless, Tesla’s offering of Enhanced Autopilot to its customers in Europe is a major upgrade for any without the navigation system, or even with the baseline Autopilot system.
