
Things are heating up for Tesla in China. With the launch of Model Y sales on New Year’s day, reports are showing heavy demand for the electric SUV, which is priced to undercut its competitors.
In a new video released today by Jason Yang, filmed on December 31, 2020, we see a drone flyover of Gigafactory Shanghai, plus a lot at the site filled with hundreds of Tesla Model Y and Model 3 vehicles. The covered vehicles in the middle appear to be Model Y, based on the shape of the vehicles.
Videos of jam-packed Tesla showrooms in China with Model Y indicate heavy demand and interest for the electric SUV.
Giga Shanghai and its new Model Y production capability should allow Tesla to hit new production and delivery records for 2021.
Earlier today, Tesla announced it hit a milestone of producing over 500,000 vehicles for 2020, and delivering just under that number (with final totals to come).
