Tesla Model 3 Goes Drifting in the Snowy French Alps at Up to 100 mph [VIDEO]
In a video uploaded Friday, Tesla racer Sebastian Vittel shows viewers how snow drifting is done in a Tesla Model 3 from a closed road in the French Alps (via Reddit). The video is sure to make your palms sweat, as Vittel whips around narrow, icy corners, with steep drop-offs to the left and right of the road at different junctures.
In the video, Vittel reaches speeds of up to 100 mph, which wouldn’t be recommended on most normal roads, let alone on roads packed with snow and ice. Still, Vittel makes the turns look easy being a race driver himself.
Vittel recently set new records in a Tesla Model S Plaid at the Laguna Seca racetrack, so he’s no stranger to Teslas or to catching drifting speeds. Still, even as simple as the video makes it look, it’s hard not to wince a bit at the steep, snowy conditions so masterfully handled by the driver.
The vehicle in the video is a 2020 Tesla Model 3, using a brake regeneration of 100% and with traction control off and set to -10. While drifting in the snow could definitely be fun, it’s not recommended for non-professional drivers to try out, and it’s certainly not recommended on such mountainous roads as those in the video.
