New Tesla Supercharger in Cupertino Looks Ready to Open Soon
The home of Apple–Cupertino–will soon see a new Tesla Supercharger location opening its doors (er…stalls) to Tesla owners in the vicinity.
The Supercharger site is currently under construction at 20745 Stevens Creek Boulevard, Cupertino, California. The installation is situated in the parking lot of a recently renovated Target, which tells us this is another one of the locations part of the Tesla-Target Supercharger deal. This charging location is a mere 2.4 miles from Apple Park, headquarters of the iPhone maker.
The site will house a whopping 28 Supercharger stalls. Reddit user ‘dinospider2000′ shared images of the upcoming Tesla Supercharging site, set to get the latest V3 chargers, capable of up to 250 kW charging rates.
As part of Tesla’s end of the bargain with retailer Target, the former will also install four ChargePoint Level 2 stalls in addition to its 28 V3 Superchargers.
Tesla has been quite busy populating the U.S. map with pins for Supercharger locations, but this installation is certainly on the larger side of its Supercharger projects. According to eyeball accounts from the site and the TMC forums, the location will be up and running in a matter of weeks.
As prevalent as electric vehicles are in Silicon Valley, this new location will definitely take a load off other Superchargers in Cupertino and the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Expect a lot of Apple employees to charge here on their way to and from work.
