Tesla Launching in India in 2021? “For Sure” Says Elon Musk
Tesla is making waves globally, as usual. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has now made it clear that the company will make its entry into India in 2021, according to Reuters.
In a Twitter response to a picture of a T-shirt with the message “India wants Tesla,” Musk wrote, “Next year for sure.” He followed up with “Thanks for waiting!”
As electric vehicles (EV) grow around the world, Tesla has pushed pretty hard to manufacture globally with its Giga Shanghai completion and its Giga Berlin currently in progress. At this moment, India’s government is showing a commitment to make EVs more common, and Tesla will play a major role in that shift in years to come.
Next year for sure

Still, the announcement isn’t necessarily a confirmation. Once before, Musk also tweeted that the company “Would love to be [in India] this year. If not, definitely next!” Unfortunately for Tesla enthusiasts in India, that tweet was posted in March 2019.
While the tweet may not necessarily mean Tesla makes it to India by 2021, it does signal that Tesla’s expansion into the country is and has been on Musk’s radar.
With a population of almost 1.4 billion people, there’s certainly a market for EVs in India, and a move to the country will likely be a wise one for Tesla.
