Of course Tesla Inc. has become a staple of transportation innovation in North America and Europe. With a central production factory based in Fremont, California, the electric vehicle maker has enjoyed a passionate fan base in its home nation. However, with new factories in Shanghai, and increased support from Chinese buyers, Tesla is quickly making a name for themselves throughout China. A new video from Business Insider explores why China loves Tesla.
The video begins with a staggering statistic. In the year 2019, Tesla saw sales of its vehicles in China increase by a whopping 161%. According to the break down, the figure equates to 40,000 newly registered Tesla vehicles. The video further describes Tesla’s hold on the market. Following a decrease in car sales across China due to the coronavirus, Tesla logged record setting months in both March and April of 2020.
Business Insider provides some groundwork that made the unlikely relationship between Tesla and China possible. Since the year 2015, China has been the world’s foremost leader in electric vehicle adoption. Meanwhile, Tesla continued to capture attention with excellent vehicles, a robust charging network, and superior battery technology. With more construction happening in Shanghai, Tesla looks to further entrench its name in the mind of Chinese customers.
