Tesla remains Norway’s top car brand for 2026 so far, with 21,523 new passenger-car registrations through October and a 16.4% share, according to Opplysningsrådet for veitrafikken (OFV), after the Model Y’s September Nordic sweep.

October sealed another monthly win. Tesla registered 1,548 cars, a 9.84% share and its best October on record, edging Toyota by 55 units after a late-month surge.

OFV said Tesla’s year-to-date count is still 3.9% below the same stretch of 2025, even while the brand holds first place. Toyota jumped 79.7% to 14,126 registrations for second, and Volkswagen sat third at 12,096.

The Model Y did most of the work. It was Norway’s most registered model in October with 1,429 cars and leads 2026 with 17,647 units, more than three times Toyota’s bZ4X in second.

Norway already hosts a dense Tesla fleet, including the milestone of 200,000 registered Teslas noted in September, and the brand once took about half the market in a single March. Chinese marques also keep gaining, with OFV putting their October share at a record 22.5%.

Can Tesla hold the 2026 brand lead through November and December against Toyota’s climb?
