B.C. Tesla Clocks Fall Back One Hour After Province Stays Put
Tesla clocks in British Columbia reportedly fell back one hour on Sunday, even though the province stayed on year-round Pacific time and did not change its clocks.
Owners across the province said their cars showed the wrong time after much of North America set clocks back. British Columbia adopted permanent Pacific time, or PCT, at UTC-7 after the March 8 spring-forward, so November 1 brought no fall-back for most of the province.
@teslainvernon in Vernon wrote that the time in all of their Teslas was off by an hour.
In Vancouver, @hh_d12 posted screenshots showing a Tesla status-bar clock at 11:33 a.m. while a Google result for the local time zone showed 12:33 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. The Time settings menu in that car offered only 12-hour or 24-hour formats, with no way to set the zone by hand.
Other owners, including @EchoYeinCa and @waternut4, said they could not correct the clock manually and asked Tesla for a software fix. @CompeterG in Vancouver reported a split in one household: a Model 3 on software 2026.38.5.11 showed the right time, while a Model Y on 2026.38.3.2 did not. @teslainvernon later replied that software 2026.38.5.11 or newer appeared to keep the correct time.
The Province of British Columbia says PCT replaces the old seasonal PST and PDT labels, and that November 1 completed the shift to a single year-round standard. Neighboring Washington still fell back, leaving B.C. one hour ahead until the next U.S. spring-forward.
Several owners say they still cannot override the car clock from the 2026.38 settings menus. Tesla has not posted a public note about the issue. Owners heading out to a new B.C. Supercharger or browsing a new Tesla may want to double-check any scheduled charging times in the meantime.
Is your B.C. Tesla clock an hour behind today, and which software version are you on?
