2016 Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg has been testing a Tesla Cybertruck with FSD (Supervised) around San Francisco this week, and he says it has been life-changing.

In a LinkedIn post, Rosberg wrote that he had been test-driving the Cybertruck with Full Self-Driving around the city and that “it’s been LIFE-CHANGING!” Back-to-back Rosberg Ventures founder meetings left him short on time, he said, until the commute gave some of it back and he arrived at every meeting focused instead of drained. “My whole racing career, I was the one in control behind the wheel. But I’m now fully willing to hand over control,” he added. Even so, he wrote, “We’re still at the very, very beginning of all of this.”

Tesla highlighted those remarks on Friday morning with the caption “Even the world’s best drivers like being driven,” sharing the same praise Rosberg published himself.

Rosberg took the 2016 title with Mercedes and retired from Formula 1 five days later. He has since built Rosberg Ventures and backed electric racing, including Extreme E, where his Rosberg X Racing team won the inaugural 2021 championship and another title in 2023.

The former champion also flagged rising FSD take rates, writing that 75% of new Teslas delivered in North America last quarter came with Full Self-Driving, up from 55% three months earlier. That climb lines up with Tesla’s own finance messaging as the software nears an estimated US$1 billion in annual revenue.

Drivers who want a supervised taste without buying can already rent Teslas with FSD (Supervised) on Turo, while long-haul testers keep stacking miles, including a recent FSD Cannonball record.

Would you hand the wheel to FSD (Supervised) the way a Formula 1 champion says he will?
