Tesla Extends Robotaxi Hours to 2 AM With Share and Calm Mode

Tesla‘s Robotaxi service now runs from 6 AM to 2 AM, stretching the day by three hours past the 11 PM cutoff the company posted earlier this month.
The official @robotaxi account laid out the change late Thursday, October 29, in a service update that also shipped a batch of rider and accessibility features.
Riders can open a rear-view camera feed during the trip, share trip details with a friend, and use a new Live Activity design for lock-screen status. Calm Mode dims the cabin screen and sets the lighting to a relaxing state, and Grok is now available on Robotaxi Model Y vehicles.
Accessibility work landed in the same post. The app gets an improved vehicle-locating arrow, haptic feedback to help riders find their car, and music control through Screen Reader.
Those hours close a gap Tesla flagged on its Q3 call, when AI software lead Ashok Elluswamy said a 2 AM window was coming soon and pointed toward round-the-clock rides later. An October 12 @robotaxi update had set service at 6 AM to 11 PM before tonight’s move.
Demand tools are already in play in Texas. New riders in Dallas and Houston recently saw a $0 first-ride offer in the Robotaxi app, and Cybercab has passed Model Y on Tesla’s Texas robotaxi registry as the fleet grows.
Thursday’s post does not name which cities the new hours cover. Earlier @robotaxi updates have framed hours as a service-wide change when the company posts them.
A 2 AM close covers last call, so people leaving bars and nightclubs can get a safe ride home instead of driving. The Houston Police Officers’ Union made that same pitch this week when it pointed Houstonians toward Robotaxi after a night out.
Would you book a Robotaxi ride that late, or are daytime trips still enough?
