Tesla’s FSD Lite Just Reached Older Model S and X Owners

Tesla has started rolling out FSD Lite to Model S and Model X vehicles with the older Intel infotainment computer, bringing the newer driver assistance build to a group of flagship owners who had been left waiting while other Hardware 3 cars moved ahead.
The news came from Tesla’s own X post on the evening of October 13, which read simply, “FSD Supervised v14 Lite now rolling out to Intel Model S&X.” Tesla did not share a software version number, release notes or a timeline for how quickly the update will reach every eligible car.
The move follows the HW3 rollout from October 7, when software update 2026.33.5 delivered FSD Lite to older Model 3 and Model Y cars while Hardware 4 vehicles picked up v14.3.11 on the same build. Model S and Model X owners were not part of that wave, even though an earlier tip in September suggested Tesla’s AI team expected their version to ship within days.
The Intel label refers to the media control unit behind the touchscreen. Model S and Model X cars built from roughly 2018 until the 2021 refresh use an Intel Atom chip, while the redesigned cars switched to a faster AMD Ryzen computer with a new interior and yoke option. Many of those Intel cars also run Hardware 3 for Autopilot, which is why they have trailed the rest of the lineup on recent FSD releases.
For HW3 owners, the wait has been long and occasionally frustrating. Many paid for Full Self-Driving years ago on the promise that their cars had everything needed for autonomy, and Elon Musk later acknowledged that Hardware 3 would likely need an upgrade for owners who bought FSD, without Tesla spelling out exactly how or when that would happen. The FSD FSD Lites are Tesla’s way of keeping those cars on the current FSD version family in the meantime, and they have also been a factor in perks like the Lemonade discount extending to HW3 drivers.
What Lite leaves out compared with the full v14 release on Hardware 4 is still unclear, since Tesla has not published a side-by-side feature list. Owners of an Intel Model S or Model X who want to check for the update can look under Controls > Software once the rollout reaches their car.
Are you driving an Intel Model S or Model X, and has FSD Lite landed in your car yet?
