Tesla Superchargers Are Coming to Korea’s Highway Rest Stops

Tesla Superchargers are headed to highway rest stops across South Korea, after Tesla was picked as a charging operator for rest areas in the Korea Expressway Corporation’s 2026 program. That’s according to Tesla Korea, which posted the news on X on Monday.
The Korea Expressway Corporation is the state-run company that operates most of the country’s toll highways and the service areas along them. Getting into its rest-stop program means Superchargers will sit right on the main intercity routes, instead of a detour off the exit.
Tesla says it already runs more than 1,200 Supercharger stalls at 180 locations across Korea, as of October 2026. The new rest-stop sites will fill in the gaps on the highway network “more densely,” in the company’s words.
Don’t plan a road trip around it just yet. Tesla’s fine print says the listed rest stops either have Supercharger construction underway or have an installation planned, and opening dates haven’t been set.
The news lands a day after Tesla opened a new service center in Jeonju, part of a steady push in Korea, where the Model Y has become one of the best-selling imported cars.
