Starlink Coming to Royal Air Maroc, First African Airline
Royal Air Maroc said on October 7, 2026, that it has selected Starlink to bring next-generation inflight Wi-Fi to its passengers, making the Casablanca-based carrier the first African airline to offer SpaceX’s high-speed, low-latency connectivity onboard, starting in 2027.

Starlink amplified the same announcement, saying passengers and crew onboard Royal Air Maroc will soon get the same high-speed, low-latency internet already transforming travel on other continents. The company framed the routes as running from Casablanca to the rest of Africa and beyond, with travelers expected to enjoy reliable internet in flight.
Royal Air Maroc’s own post put the partnership in plain terms: the airline selected Starlink for next-generation cabin Wi-Fi and will be the first African carrier to offer it, with service starting in 2027. Neither side published aircraft counts, which cabin classes get free access, retrofit timelines by jet type, or route-by-route launch order in the October 7 posts.
The Africa first matters because Starlink’s airline footprint has already scaled on other continents. Qatar Airways has pushed past 150 Starlink-equipped widebodies, Air France is rolling free Starlink across its fleet, and earlier programs such as Hawaiian Airlines helped set the bar for gate-to-gate cabin internet.
Starlink Aviation sells the same LEO constellation airlines already use for streaming-grade cabin links, rather than older geostationary Wi-Fi. Royal Air Maroc did not say in the October 7 posts whether the service will be free for passengers, how many jets will fly first, or which Casablanca long-hauls get the retrofit wave.
For now the confirmed beat is the selection itself: Starlink for next-generation inflight Wi-Fi, first African airline, start year 2027. Fleet size, pricing, and route order remain open until the carrier or Starlink publish more detail.
