Starlink Stands Ready to Serve India, VP Says at IMC

SpaceX Starlink vice president of business operations Lauren Dreyer said at India Mobile Congress on October 7, 2026, that Starlink stands ready to serve India as soon as final government approvals clear, framing the network as a last-mile partner for the country’s operators, government, and industry.

Update: Elon Musk escalated on October 7, quote-posting content on India’s rural connectivity gap and claiming Starlink is being blocked by “certain oligarchs” to maintain a “monopolistic chokehold” on the Indian people. “You can guess who they are,” Musk wrote. “This is a crime against the people of India!” He did not name anyone.

“Great to be at India Mobile Congress today,” Dreyer wrote, thanking the Government of India and the Department of Telecommunications for the chance to share Starlink’s vision for the country. She said Starlink can help reach places where the last mile is still the hardest mile, working alongside India’s operators, government, and industry.

Her close left no ambiguity on timing: “As India works through the final approvals, our message is simple: We stand ready to serve India, as soon as India is ready!” Elon Musk and the Starlink account amplified the post. Dreyer’s remarks did not include gateway counts, antenna totals, or other build-out figures.

Commercial Starlink service in India is still not live. SpaceX has been building toward a launch while clearances remain unfinished, including a 2025 distribution partnership with Airtel and Bengaluru Starlink supply-chain hiring in August 2026 while security clearances stayed frozen. Dreyer’s IMC line does not change that regulatory gate. It restates readiness once India finishes its process.

What remains unsaid in the primary post is any public retail date, pricing, or which Indian regions would light up first after approvals. For a cold reader, the October 7 beat is the readiness message itself: Starlink wants the last mile, will work with local operators, and is waiting on India’s final green light.
