Tesla Names Cybercab’s RGB Light Bar the “Megalamp”

Tesla has given the RGB light bar across the front of the Cybercab a name, calling it the “Megalamp,” a visual pickup cue that matches the colour shown in a rider’s Robotaxi app.
“Cybercab’s Megalamp is designed to ensure you always find your ride,” Tesla’s official Robotaxi account said in a post published October 1, alongside a 20-second video showing the light bar in action.
The video opens with a person holding a smartphone displaying the Robotaxi ride-hail app map, while a Cybercab’s front light bar glows purple or magenta in the blurred background.
A closer shot shows the long, thin Megalamp just below the hood edge, stretching nearly the full width of the vehicle and glowing vivid violet-purple. White and amber headlight elements sit at the outer corners, while a small “ROBOTAXI” badge is visible on the nose.
The video then cuts to a wider view of a gold Cybercab parked in a city plaza with its butterfly doors open and the purple Megalamp illuminated. It also contrasts the bar’s dim inactive state with its illuminated appearance before ending on a head-on view.
The name is the newest detail in Tesla’s Cybercab hardware rollout. The company recently highlighted the vehicle’s rare-earth-free motor, showed a Cybercab using an in-house cathode, and displayed the vehicle at Hong Kong’s ELEMENTS shopping centre.
The colour-matching pickup cue was already known, but Tesla has now given the hardware an official name. In practice, using the Megalamp is simple: when your Cybercab arrives, match the glowing light bar to the colour shown on your Robotaxi app map and walk to the car that matches.
