Tesla has pushed its upcoming Roadster event from October 1 to October 15, saying Monday that severe weather in the forecast forced the delay because the event can only be held outdoors.
The company explained the change in a short update titled “Roadster event update.” “We’ve been tracking the weather closely with local meteorologists, but given the severe conditions predicted & because this event can only be held outdoors, we’ve made the difficult decision to reschedule,” Tesla said.
In the same update, Tesla confirmed the new timing, writing “New date is October 15. Additional details to follow.”
October 1 was the original date, which Tesla announced with a cryptic teaser captioned “Go for launch.” The image showed the rear profile of a dark sports car.
Fans widely took that teaser as a preview of the next-generation Roadster reveal, and Monday’s update, which calls it a “Roadster event,” lines up with that read.
The outdoor-only format is what made the weather a dealbreaker here. With no indoor fallback, Tesla chose to move the date rather than run the event in rough conditions.
For anyone counting down, the reschedule adds two more weeks to the wait.

Tesla said additional details on the October 15 event are still to come. Earlier this month, the automaker reopened Roadster reservations with a $50,000 deposit.
