Tesla’s EU Supervised FSD Vote Pushed Back as October 6 Agenda Shows Talks Only

Tesla’s push to bring supervised FSD to Europe faces another delay, with the official agenda for the October 6 committee meeting showing discussions will continue without a scheduled vote on the system.

Published in the European Commission’s comitology register, the draft agenda for the 119th meeting of the Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles (TCMV) lists the Tesla item only as “continuation of discussions on request of the Netherlands for an Art. 39 authorisation.” The discussion is scheduled for 11:45 to 12:10 on October 6, and none of the meeting’s six agenda items includes a vote. It is the only FSD-related item listed.

The agenda item relates to the Netherlands’ Art. 39 authorisation request. Any EU-wide approval would require a qualified majority vote in the TCMV, with at least 15 of the EU’s 27 member states representing 65% of the bloc’s population. Other topics at the meeting include type-approval legislation, UNECE matters, and administrative business.

Progress had been building around Tesla’s European FSD push. The Czech Republic granted Tesla FSD Supervised approval earlier this month, while Tesla has recorded 460,000 km of FSD Supervised testing in Spain. Regulators remain divided, however, after the Belgian safety group’s FSD tests found the system breaking speed limits in most Brussels runs.

Without a vote scheduled for October 6, Tesla’s European FSD plans remain in a holding pattern. The next opportunity for a decision has not yet appeared on any official schedule.
