Tesla Gives In-Car Grok Access to Your Email, Calendar and Files

Tesla is expanding what Grok can do inside its vehicles, with new Connectors that let the AI access a user’s email, calendar and files.

The company announced the feature Tuesday, highlighting three main uses: managing an inbox, cleaning up a calendar and discussing existing files, chats and tasks. Tesla says the experience is hands-free, with drivers interacting with Grok by voice.

A one-minute demo shared by Tesla shows the feature running inside one of its vehicles.

In a follow-up reply, Tesla explained that setup only takes a few steps. Owners open the Grok app, tap the plus icon, select “New Connector,” choose a supported service and sign in. Once connected, Grok can access that service when needed.

Tesla did not say which email, calendar or cloud storage services are supported at launch.

The announcement also included a separate Grok capability for more complicated tasks. Tesla says the AI can do things such as place a user’s usual coffee order, book a restaurant reservation or schedule an appointment.

Those agent-style tasks are currently available to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers, with Tesla saying support for additional subscription tiers will come later.

The update is the latest in a quick run of new Grok features for Tesla vehicles. Owners recently discovered that Grok can open websites in Tesla’s browser using voice commands, while the updated Model Y owner’s manual lists voice text messaging as another supported Grok feature.

SpaceXAI also released Grok 4.7 on September 21, calling it its most powerful AI model yet.

There are still some unanswered questions around Connectors. Tesla hasn’t said whether the feature is rolling out to every Grok-capable vehicle at the same time, whether a paid Grok subscription is required, or which Tesla software version owners need.

It’s also unclear whether the more advanced SuperGrok Heavy tasks, such as ordering coffee and booking appointments, are available directly through the in-car version of Grok.

Grok joined Tesla’s announcement with a reply of its own, saying it was ready to handle inboxes, calendars and itineraries during a hands-free trip to Tahoe in a Cybertruck.

Tesla has been steadily giving Grok a larger role inside its vehicles. The company has previously described FSD Supervised combined with Grok as being like having your own robotaxi.

The new Connectors take that integration another step by letting drivers use Grok for tasks that would normally require reaching for a phone or waiting until they get to a computer.
