Tesla has raised the price of its home charging hardware again in Canada and the United States, pushing both the Wall Connector and Universal Wall Connector to some of their highest prices yet.
In Canada, Tesla’s Gen 3 Wall Connector now costs $815 CAD, up from $760 CAD in July. The Universal Wall Connector has increased to $945 CAD, up from $800 CAD in July, according to checks by Tesla North.
That means prices have jumped by $55 CAD and $145 CAD, respectively, in just a few months. The increases look even larger when compared with Tesla’s pricing over the past several years.
Tesla’s standard Wall Connector dropped as low as $465 CAD in December 2022. The price increased to $575 CAD the following month, reached $650 CAD in June 2023 and later settled around $625 CAD.
Prices started climbing again in 2026. The Wall Connector was around $630 CAD in early June before rising to $645 CAD, then $675 CAD and finally $760 CAD on July 4. It has now reached $815 CAD.
Compared with its December 2022 low, the Wall Connector is now about 75% more expensive.
Tesla’s Universal Wall Connector has followed a similar path.
The charger launched in Canada for $785 CAD in August 2023 before increasing to $860 CAD in February 2024. Tesla later dropped the price back to $800 CAD, but it has now jumped to $945 CAD.
Unlike the standard Wall Connector, the Universal model includes Tesla’s NACS connector along with an integrated J1772 adapter. That lets it charge Tesla vehicles as well as many other EVs.
Tesla has also raised prices in the United States.
The standard Wall Connector is now listed at $585 USD, while the Universal Wall Connector costs $660 USD.
The standard charger sold for roughly $500 USD to $550 USD in 2021 before dropping to $400 USD in May 2022 and reaching a low of $350 USD in December 2022.
Tesla raised the price to $425 USD in January 2023 and $475 USD that June. Pricing then moved between roughly $420 USD and $450 USD through much of 2024 before climbing more sharply in 2026.
The Universal Wall Connector launched in the U.S. for $595 USD in August 2023. It increased to $620 USD in early 2024, although retailers including Amazon and Best Buy frequently offered it for around $550 USD to $580 USD.
Tesla later raised its own price to $650 USD in 2025. It hovered around $600 USD earlier this year before reaching the current $660 USD price.
Third-party retailers do not always change their prices at the same time as Tesla, meaning shoppers may still be able to find either charger for less outside Tesla’s online store. But checks by Tesla North show Best Buy Canada has already updated its pricing to match Tesla’s online shop.
Tesla has not explained the latest price increases, and we likely won’t hear why. Component costs across parts of the electronics industry have been under pressure amid heavy demand for AI infrastructure, although there is no indication from Tesla that those factors are responsible for the higher Wall Connector prices.
