Tesla owners are finding that Grok, the in-car AI from xAI, can open websites and articles in the cabin browser by voice instead of pecking at the touchscreen.
On September 16, Vancouver creator @DevinOlsenn posted a tip with video showing Grok bring up a page after a spoken request. He called it “super handy” when you want something on the browser without typing, and said the flow feels more intuitive than asking the older in-car voice to open sites. Devin said he was unsure when the behavior was added and noted he was on software 2026.27.6.
A separate owner reply claimed the same voice-to-browser path has worked since the 2026 Summer Release in early August. That update already pushed Grok past Q&A into vehicle commands such as calls, music, climate, and glovebox. Another owner account, Oceanswave, posted a similar browser tip the same day. Tesla has not published a dedicated release note for Grok opening the browser to a specific page or article, and none of this is an official Tesla or xAI announcement.
The useful case is parked or passenger browsing: ask Grok for a site or article and let the cabin browser load it. Browser and driving rules still vary by region. One Australian reply said the browser is not available while driving even on FSD. Owners already using Grok for cabin commands can try a simple open-site request on current software and see whether the page appears.
