Apple’s servers quietly picked up Car Key labels for three more automakers, according to a backend string dump shared by reverse engineer @aaronp613, not an Apple product announcement.
Apple Car Key puts a digital key in Apple Wallet so a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch can lock, unlock, and start a supported vehicle. @aaronp613 said the backend now lists Lincoln, Freelander, and Lucid among brands getting that support. MacRumors separately reported the same trio, crediting contributor Aaron Perris for the find and noting the code includes no availability window.
That framing matters for Tesla readers. Tesla already ships its own phone key and key card workflow, and the company has been watched for years on whether it will also join Apple’s Wallet Car Key standard. A prior Wallet Car Key tip stayed speculative for Tesla; today’s tip is about other brands showing up in Apple’s plumbing first.
Backend strings are a planning signal, not a showroom date. Lincoln, Freelander, and Lucid still have to certify hardware and software before owners see a Wallet card, and Apple has not published a public rollout timeline for the three names. Treat the tip the same way app researchers treat Tesla_App_iOS finds: useful early notice, not a confirmed launch day.
