Amazon Cargo Jet Crash Lands Beside Tesla Cybercabs in Miami

An Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 cargo jet overran a runway at Miami International Airport on September 6, 2026, killing at least five people and coming to rest beside a staging lot of parked Tesla Cybercabs, according to local officials and a photograph from the scene distributed by Reuters.

The aircraft, Flight 7598 operated by charter carrier 21 Air for Amazon, was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and left the usable runway around 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the plane struck multiple vehicles on the ground. Five people were also injured, with some in critical condition, officials said. Neither Tesla nor airport authorities had confirmed by Monday morning whether any of the Cybercabs were among the vehicles hit.

Scene photos show the freighter’s nose stopped within meters of a fenced row of gold Cybercabs and other Teslas staged near the airport perimeter. Elon Musk, asked about the near-miss on X via a ZeroHedge link, replied with a single word:

“Weird,” Musk wrote. Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said the company was working with authorities and that its priority was the safety of everyone involved. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the overrun.

Tesla already runs unsupervised Robotaxi service in Miami on Model Y vehicles, while purpose-built Cybercab public rides are still centered on Austin. The Miami airport fleet had not entered commercial Cybercab service there. The staging lot underlines how far Tesla is already prepositioning vehicles as it expands robotaxi cities beyond the Cybercab launch week.
