A new Tesla Supercharger location is heading to Chicago, Illinois, giving electric vehicle drivers another high-speed charging option right off the highway.

City permits issued on July 20, 2026, reveal plans for a 16-stall charging station located at Grand Boulevard Plaza, situated at 5447 S Wentworth Avenue, as first discovered by @MarcoRPi1. The site sits right off Interstate 90 at the exit for Garfield Boulevard, making it an accessible stop for both local drivers and travelers passing through the area.

According to permit records, the project carries an estimated valuation of $3,080,000. Construction plans outline the installation of four pre-assembled Tesla Supercharger units powering 16 charging posts, alongside a transformer, CT cabinet, utility meter, two switchgears, 13 safety bollards, and two trash and recycling bins.

Tesla originally applied for the alteration permit in August 2025 before securing official approval last month. Construction work is expected to get underway soon to bring the site online.
