Tesla Issues Invites for Final Model S and Model X Delivery Event
Tesla has begun sending out exclusive invitations for what it calls a “Signature Edition” delivery event, marking the end of production for its longest-running vehicle platforms. The event is scheduled for May 12, 2026, at the company’s factory in Fremont, California, where the Model S first began rolling off the line in 2012.
The gathering is billed as a celebration of the “first of the last deliveries” of the Model S and Model X. These final Signature Edition units are top-spec Plaid models finished in a unique Garnet Red paint and carry a starting price of $159,420. Tesla has reportedly attached strict no-resale rules to these vehicles to ensure they remain with collectors.
A Celebration of Automotive Icons
According to the invitation, the event will offer more than just a vehicle handover. Owners will have the opportunity to participate in a factory experience that honours the legacy of the sedan and SUV that defined the early era of premium electric travel.
“Join us for an invite-only celebration of the first of the last deliveries of Model S and Model X Signature Edition—ever,” the invitation reads. “During the event, you’ll get to enjoy refreshments and purchase Signature Edition merchandise. You may even be able to take delivery of your Signature Edition vehicle.”
The sunsetting of these models is a significant moment for the Fremont plant, which is expected to shift resources toward new projects, including the highly anticipated Cybercab.
