Tesla Cybercab Production Without Steering Wheels Spotted at Giga Texas
Tesla has hit a major production milestone at Giga Texas, with the first fleet of purpose-built Cybercabs appearing at the factory’s outbound lot.
According to drone pilot Joe Tegtmeyer, who monitors the facility daily, roughly 14 Cybercabs were spotted on April 17, 2026. Notably, these vehicles were produced without steering wheels, marking a massive shift toward Tesla’s vision of a fully autonomous robotaxi.
Tegtmeyer noted that the production line began this specific run earlier this week. Following this initial sighting, production is expected to ramp up significantly starting Monday, April 20 (insert 4/20 references).
The appearance of these steering-wheel-free vehicles is being seen as a “big step forward” for Giga Texas and Tesla’s broader autonomous driving goals. This transition from prototypes to factory-produced units suggests the company is moving closer to its goal of a driverless transportation network.
Recently, Tesla teased the Robotaxi is about to unleash the “golden era” and shared a really cool video, which you can see below:
