Tesla Starts Delivering European-Made Model Y Units in Canada

Tesla has officially started delivering Giga Berlin-built Model Y units to customers in Canada, marking a major milestone in the company’s global production and export strategy.
One order holder over the weekend confirmed their delivery appointment in Montreal for October 25, ecstatically sharing the news on Reddit. The Redditor, who ordered their Model Y on July 10, shared that their configuration was White/White with a VIN assigned on September 28 (731xxx). Their vehicle was shipped aboard the CMA CGM Silverstone, which arrived in Canada on October 12.
Prior to being offered a specific delivery date, the owner’s delivery window was listed as October 22–November 5. They were asked to choose from several delivery appointments, sharing, “I was offered Oct 25-28-30-31. I didn’t check November, I was too excited and took the earliest slot available.”
This development comes just weeks after the first shipment of Giga Berlin-produced Model Y vehicles landed in Canada last month. With more and more Canadian order holders now being invited to schedule their deliveries, it appears Tesla is ramping up deliveries of European-built Model Ys across the country in earnest.
Tesla’s shift to sourcing Model Y units for the Canadian market from Giga Berlin instead of Giga Texas in the U.S. or Giga Shanghai in China comes as a strategic move to avoid steep new import tariffs — 100% on Chinese-made electric vehicles and 25% on those built in the U.S.
By pivoting to exports from its German factory, Tesla was able to significantly lower costs and, in turn, pass those savings on to Canadian buyers. In fact, the company slashed the price of the Model Y Long Range AWD by a massive $20,000 CAD back in July, bringing it down to $64,990 — roughly $5,000 below pre-tariff pricing levels.
Tesla’s new Model Y Standard RWD, the most affordable version of the all-electric SUV, was also recently spotted in Canada for the first time. The automaker launched this trim in both the U.S. and Europe earlier this month. With Giga Berlin already producing this configuration for European markets, a Canadian launch could be on the horizon — though Tesla hasn’t made any official announcements yet.
