Tesla Increases Model Y LR Lease Pricing in the U.S.

Tesla has quietly increased the starting lease price for the Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) in the U.S., bumping it up to $399 per month from the previous $349, according to new figures spotted on the company’s website.

The move comes as Tesla prepares for what’s likely to be a busy end-of-quarter push. Raj Jegannathan, AI and IT Infrastructure Engineer at Tesla, cautioned on X that custom orders in many locations may now take one to two weeks longer, with the company’s online configurator set to be updated to reflect extended delivery estimates.

Jegannathan also confirmed that there won’t be any additional end-of-quarter discounts beyond what Tesla is already offering in the U.S. With that being the case, prospective buyers may want to order sooner rather than later if they want to take delivery before the end of Q3 — and potentially secure the $7,500 federal EV tax credit before it expires on September 30, 2025. Traditionally, Tesla has used end-of-quarter discounts to encourage last-minute orders, but that playbook appears to be on pause.

The lease pricing change applies only to the Model Y Long Range RWD for now. While $50 more per month may not seem like a huge jump, it does add up over a multi-year term. On the plus side, Tesla late last year began allowing customers to buy out any lease — including for the Cybertruck — at the end of their term, giving lessees more flexibility than in years past.

With delivery timelines stretching and no further discounts expected, locking in a Tesla order now may be the safest bet to avoid the Q3 delivery crunch.

Update (August 9, 2025): Tesla has also raised the starting lease price for the Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD), upping it from $399 per month to $449 per month.
