Tesla Previews Spring Software Update and New Features
Tesla has announced an array of new features in its upcoming Spring Release, aimed at enhancing user experience and vehicle functionality across its models. The update, filled with visual upgrades and innovative functionalities, promises to make Tesla vehicles even more intuitive and enjoyable to use.
Key Features of the Spring Release:
- Visual Updates for Model 3/Y: Vehicles equipped with the AMD chip will see immersive full-screen vehicle controls when parked, larger playback controls, and quick access to media options such as Recents, Favorites, and Up Next. Additionally, Autopilot driving visualizations are expandable, featuring a smaller map in the top right corner for trip guidance. No word if a retrofit is available for those Model 3/Y cars with Intel chips.
- Auto Shift Beta for Model S/X (2021 and later): The Auto Shift (Beta) feature has been enhanced to allow shifting between Drive (D) and Reverse (R) based on the vehicle’s surroundings, in addition to its capability to shift out of Park (P).
- Audible Integration: Audible.com is now available as a native media app, providing a seamless listening experience for audiobook enthusiasts.
- Spotify Enhancements: Users can now sync their Spotify queue across different vehicles and devices and adjust playback speed, enhancing the audio experience.
- Hands-Free Trunk for Model S/X and Upgraded Model 3: The Hands-Free Trunk feature enables the trunk to automatically open when standing still behind the vehicle with a Phone Key, adding convenience for users.
- Sentry Mode Recording Previews: In select countries, a brief clip of Sentry Mode recordings can now be previewed on your phone if the alarm is triggered, providing immediate insight into security incidents.
- Increased Regenerative Braking on Highways: For Model S/X (2021 and later), the update allows for more regenerative braking at high speeds, contributing to energy efficiency and extended battery life.
- Rear Passenger Trip Details: Rear passengers in equipped vehicles can now view current trip details, including time and temperature, at the top of the rear touchscreen, enhancing the passenger experience.
The new visual updates look pretty nice. We look forward to the Sentry Mode clips preview on smartphones, that will be great. It’s too bad the hands-free trunk is not available for existing Model 3/Y and only for the upgraded Model 3.
These updates reflect Tesla’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, ensuring that Tesla owners enjoy the benefits of the latest technology advancements even while their vehicles are parked.
