The Weekly Supercharger: Florida’s New Largest Supercharger
Welcome to Week 4! On this edition, we’ll be covering a bunch of new Superchargers, including, among other things: The new largest Supercharger in Florida, the new largest V3 Supercharger in Georgia, permits for Akron, Tukwila, and some construction updates in the Southwest.
Starting off, Tesla has finally obtained approval for the Akron Supercharger in Ohio. Earlier this month, permits were issued for an 8-stall prefabricated station at the GetGo gas station on East Waterloo Road. With the plans dating back to late 2021, it’s apparent that Tesla has been trying to get this done for a while.
Now to Washington, where dig utility tickets were recently submitted for a second Supercharger in the City of Tukwila. Per the plans, 16 charging stations, including 1 pull-through unit, are set to be built at Park Place Shopping Center on Southcenter Parkway. Permits for the site were issued were issued back in June, and dig tickets are indicative of the fact that work should begin very soon.
Next up, a new Supercharger is coming to Rocklin, California. Two weeks ago, permits were issued for a 12-stall charging site at the Sierra Meadows Plaza off Interstate 80, northeast of Sacramento.
Continuing in California, it looks like Tesla is planning more and more Superchargers in Paso Robles. Last month, a permit was filed for a 15-stall expansion of the Golden Hill Rd Supercharger and is currently pending review. Once the expansion is complete, this site will have 43 charging stalls, while the city itself will have over 70 in total.
Down to Georgia, where Tesla is building another Supercharger expansion, this time in the Atlanta suburb of Cumberland. Back in July, permits were issued for a 16-stall addition to the existing site (currently 12 stalls) to make it the new largest V3 Supercharger in the state, although it is bound to be dethroned, eventually.
Finally, for the last “new” site of the week, we have a massive Supercharger coming soon to Florida! Recently, site plans were submitted for a 40-stall station at Florida Nexxus Park in Fort Pierce. While the plaza is somewhat “vacant”, so to speak, Bravo Supermarket is set to open a location during the 4th quarter. Additionally, there is a Burger King right across the street from where the chargers will be located.
As of now, Fort Pierce will become the largest Supercharger in the state of Florida, as well as the largest in the Eastern United States, with the nearest “largest” Supercharger being located in Temple, Texas (48 stalls).
To finish off this week, we have four new construction updates, one in Los Angeles, California, one in Laughlin, Nevada, one in Phoenix, Arizona, and the last one – surprisingly – in Fort Pierce, Florida.
I may or may not have stumbled onto that last one while looking for Nexxus, but anyway, 8 stalls are currently under construction at the Wawa off I-95 at Orange Ave. With the site being located just 2.5 miles from Nexxus Park, I’m kind of wondering why Tesla still went ahead with it, despite a location 5 times its size just an Interstate exit away, but I digress.
Next up, the Supercharger we reported on in Paradise Valley Village, Arizona is also under construction. Work on the 16-stall charging site began two weeks ago, and no one seems to have noticed until now.
Another Supercharger which is currently being built is Laughlin, Nevada. Work recently began on the 8-stall site at the Laughlin River Lodge, right across the Colorado River from Bullhead City, Arizona.
And the last Supercharger construction update of the week is in Los Angeles, California. 12 charging posts are currently under construction at the Sheraton Universal Hotel on Universal Hollywood Dr. The site is located inside the parking garage at the hotel, and while the ease of access from the freeway is a plus, the parking fee isn’t exactly… cheap.
So that’s all for this week! Hopefully you enjoyed the read, as this has definitely been my favorite week so far. That said, next week’s release set will be absolutely crazy and will probably blow this one out of the water. We’ll see you then!!
