The Weekly Supercharger: Superchargers in the Southeast (Week 3)

Welcome to the Week 3 of The Weekly Supercharger!!

The highlights for this week will mostly include Supercharger sites in the American Southeast region, as well as a few in California and Nevada. The number of new releases for this week will be a bit lower than usual, but there will be more updates.

Here’s the TL;DR map link for this week, on top this time.

Let’s start off with a bunch of updates across North Carolina.

First, we have an update on the Wilson Supercharger, for which 20 stalls are planned at the Circle K off I-95. Permits were issued last month, meaning construction may soon be taking place.

Next is another update, this time for the 12-stall Troutman Supercharger, located near Statesville. Turns out that not only has the permit been issued, but construction is underway as well, at the Exxon on Julian Pl.

And finally, a new Supercharger is coming soon to the coastal town of Nags Head, North Carolina. Almost a month ago, permits were issued for a 12-stall prefabricated Supercharger at Outer Banks Mall on South Croatan Hwy. The site is located a mere 5 miles from the Kill Devil Hills Supercharger but will be convenient for travel in the area.

Next, we head to Nevada with some updates on Hertz Superchargers. The company recently filed two permits for sites by McCarran International Airport. The first permit is for the addition of 4 stalls at the Airport’s primary rental car center on Gilespie St.

The second permit calls for the installation of 4 stalls at the Dollar Rental car lot (Dollar is a Hertz subsidiary) on University Center Dr. This is seemingly in addition to another permit filed at the same address for 4 stalls. Whether this site will have 4 or 8 stalls remains to be seen, but it is not uncommon for Hertz Supercharging stations to have 8 stalls or more.

Now, back to the Southeast with another Hertz Supercharger in Louisiana. Hertz is currently planning a new location at their maintenance facility in Baton Rouge, at 9291 General Chennault Dr. Information is limited at this time, but permits should soon be submitted.

Moving on to California, where there’s a new Supercharger coming to Danville, a city on the I-680 loop and located east of Oakland. Permits were filed last month for a 16-stall station at Blackhawk Plaza and are currently in review.

Up next, again in California, are some finds which I was planning on posting this week, although it seems I was beaten to the punch. With all due credit to user Shotgunsi (on some forum), permits have been tracked down for Superchargers at 4868 San Felipe Road, with 12 stalls, and 117 Bernal Road, with 32 stalls.

And we’re back in the Southeast with one update in Georgia and a good few in Florida.

First up, permits have been issued for the Gainesville Supercharger in Georgia, which will be located at the Kroger on Jesse Jewell Parkway. 16 stalls are planned.

Next, we’re back in Ocoee with an update on the Supercharger there. Back in Week 1, we reported on a new site at the Michaels Craft Store on W Colonial Dr. While the permit was “rejected” at the time, the status now shows as issued. Best of all, it isn’t the only Floridian permit which was recently issued, as permits for the West Palm Beach Supercharger on 45th Street were issued last month. This means construction could soon be underway at both of these sites.

Finally, we have the last Supercharger of the week coming to Lakeland, Florida. Permits were submitted back in June for an 8-stall charging site at the Mellow Mushroom pizzeria off Polk Pkwy. In addition, 6 ChargePoint Level 2 chargers are planned alongside the Superchargers. Permits were issued in early July and Tesla recently submitted a notice of commencement for the proposed work.

Thanks for the read, and we hope to see you next week!
