In a bid to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy, Tesla has made substantial updates to its Referral Program Policies, according to a recent tweet by Taylor Robinette, Digital Product Leader at Tesla.
Taking into account feedback from the Teslta community, the company has decided to raise the yearly referral cap from 5 to 12 referrals, said Robinette on Wednesday. Additionally, Tesla owners are now allowed to post their referral links on social media and other public platforms.
In his tweet, Robinette expressed his gratitude to the Tesla community for their contributions in expediting the global shift towards sustainable energy and ensuring that their friends and family drive only the best. These changes reflect Tesla’s commitment to community engagement and its goal to enhance the adoption of eco-friendly transportation alternatives.
“You can refer up to 12 referrals per calendar year to earn referral credits and the order must be placed using your referral link (except for loyalty benefits). After 12 referrals, you can continue to refer friends and they can receive buyer cash awards and exclusive referral benefits with their purchase. Credits cannot be transferred between accounts or assigned to other people,” explains Tesla’s website.
From June 2, 2023, for a new Model S or Model X ordered via your referral link:

From June 8, 2023, for solar panels or Solar Roof ordered via your referral link:
Existing owners buying an additional qualifying product via the same Tesla Account may also qualify for the cash awards and benefits above.
Existing owners ordering through a referral link (their own or a friend’s) will not get referral credits but will automatically earn the buyer cash awards and exclusive referral benefits linked with the purchased product.
