Extensive Tesla Vision Park Assist Review: It Needs Major Work [VIDEO]

A new video from the YouTube channel RSymons RSEV shows Tesla’s new Vision-based parking assist, which debuted in the recent 2022.45.11 software update.

The video includes a few tests of the parking assist feature from inside a parking garage with a Model Y, the first of which includes the host, Richard, backing into a parking space. Once backed into the space, the navigation animation shows that the vehicle is 13 inches from the wall, and when Richard gets out and double-checks it with a tape measure, it looks to be close to perfect.

After a few tests inside the garage, Richard takes the Model Y outside, and performs some testing with a fence, and the crew’s teammate Serge.

In one test, Richard has Serge stand behind the vehicle to see how the vehicle detects him. It appears that the vehicle is a little inaccurate in this test, showing the pedestrian to be much further away than Serge is actually standing, to the point where it can be hard to trust the system.

In addition to these tests, Richard performs a test with a trash bin, a box, an electric vehicle (EV) charging post, other cars, more fences, parallel parking spaces and more.
