Tesla Increases Price of Model Y Performance, Model 3 RWD Gets Price Drop
After Tesla increased Model Y pricing in the U.S. multiple times in the past few weeks, the automaker has again boosted the starting price of the premium electric SUV crossover.
Tesla increased the price of its Model Y Performance vehicles in the U.S. once again, this time by around $500, as spotted by @Sawyer Merritt on the company’s order configurator on Monday.
The Model Y Performance now starts at a price of $58,990, up from its previous price of $58,490 USD. Tesla increased the price of the Performance and Long Range on February 10th. That makes for a $1,000 USD price increase for the Performance in less than one week.
Additionally, Tesla has dropped the price of RWD Model 3 units by $500 to a starting price of $42,990.
Merritt and other users point out later in the thread that with federal and state vehicle incentives, prices for the RWD Model 3 could be as low as $26,490 for buyers in Oregon, or at least as low as $35,490 federal tax credit on electric vehicles (EVs).
Last week, data showed that the Tesla Model Y had become California’s best-selling car in 2022, just days after it first increased the Model Y’s price, decreasing that of the Model 3 this year.
The Tesla Model Y also gained new eligibility for the EV tax credit just last week, after the federal government changed all variants of the SUV to fall under the $80,000 price cap.
