Tesla Semi Spotted in Downtown Phoenix Ahead of the Super Bowl [PICS]
A group of photos shared by @munybrr on Wednesday shows one of Frito-Lay’s Tesla Semi trucks in downtown Phoenix ahead of this Sunday’s Super Bowl. The user also said he was told that the Semi would be parked in downtown all weekend near other activities.
The photos show the Semi parked near an outdoor event area that appears to be setting up for the aforementioned activities.
The Semi includes the heavily wrapped orange and yellow Frito-Lay decals, pulling what appears to be a trailer with Tostitos branding.
The news comes just a few weeks after Motortrend reviewed one Frito-Lay’s Tesla Semis, with some testimonials from the electric truck’s drivers at the company.
Frito-Lay uses a Tesla Megapack to charge the Semi at its Modesto, California distribution center, and the company has a number of other electric vehicles (EVs) on-site as part of its goals to reduce the production of greenhouse gases.
Tesla delivered its first Semi units to Frito-Lay on December 1, and the automaker has since announced huge expansions at its Gigafactory Nevada to scale up Semi production and build 4680 batteries — worth around $3.6 billion in building additions.
According to a statement from CEO Elon Musk during Tesla’s Q3 2022 earnings call, the automaker plans to produce as many as 50,000 Semi units in North America in 2024.
