Hertz and Uber to Launch Up to 25,000 EVs in Europe, from Tesla and More

Hertz and Uber announced plans to deploy as many as 25,000 electric vehicle (EV) rentals in Europe as a new expansion to its partnership, according to a press release shared on Tuesday.

The EVs are set to hit much of Europe in 2025, beginning with London and shortly followed by Paris and Amsterdam.

The rentals will aim to hit Europe’s capital cities and will include a range of EVs, primarily including those from Tesla and Polestar. Additionally, Uber announced plans to go completely zero-emission in London by 2025, and across all of Europe by 2030.

“Hertz continues to accelerate the drive toward sustainability and our partnership with Uber significantly advances that goal. By making EVs available to rideshare drivers, we will not only contribute to reducing emissions in European cities but also expand opportunities for people to experience the benefits of electrification,” Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr said. “As Hertz invests to create one of the largest EV fleets globally, our Uber partnership will ensure that we continue to lead in the rapidly-changing mobility landscape across Europe.”

In July, Hertz and Uber expanded its Tesla rentals to Canada, and the companies say that the whole EV rental program has benefitted roughly 50,000 drivers throughout North America to date.
