Tesla Changes Model 3 LR in South Korea to Inventory Availability Only

Tesla has changed the wording on its Model 3 Long Range configurator for orders in Korea, previously saying “Available for Order in 2023” and now writing “View Limited Inventory”, as spotted by Tesla North reader @Tslachan.

In a tweet about the change, @Tslachan also pointed out that the strategy seemed to be similar to Tesla’s move to stop taking orders for the Model 3 in Taiwan, also adding that it’s just speculation so far.

Additionally, @Tslachan said in a follow-up tweet that the change to a limited inventory selection could be used by Tesla to promote inventory depletion.

In February, Tesla changed the wording of the Model 3’s driving range in Korea to say the vehicle could drive a “maximum” of 528 kilometers per charge — after it originally read it could drive “more than” 528km.

Tesla still offers the Model 3 Performance and RWD models in Korea, and the LR and Performance trims of the Model Y.

Last week, Tesla celebrated its 100th Supercharger station in Korea, located in Seoul and featuring nine V3 stalls.

While Tesla remains the dominant electric vehicle company in Korea’s market, competition is set to rise in the coming years.

Major automaker Hyundai is based in Korea, and General Motors plans to launch as many as 10 EVs in the country by 2025.
