Tesla has announced a new ‘Treasure Box’ rewards points program in China, to go with its Model 3 and Model Y price drops.
Essentially, this ‘Treasure Box’ is like the ‘Loot Box’ referral program, allowing Tesla owners to refer friends to buy the company’s vehicles. When a friend or family member buys a Tesla with your referral link, you can get many goodies, with the following named as just some examples:
Tesla says orders made from October 24, 2022, onwards qualify for ‘Treasure Box’ rewards, with all vehicles eligible including Cybertruck and Roadster.
According to Tesla, there’s also something called a ‘Lucky Draw’. A Google Translate of the image above says, “on the basis of earning points, for every 5 successful referrals or 20 referrals, there’s a chance to be entered into a draw for:
Essentially, for 5 referrals you get an entry into the draw. Once you accumulate 20 referrals, you get a higher chance to win a prize, says Tesla.
Tesla says these referral rewards start on October 24, 2022. “For every successful recommendation of 5 friends to place an order and pick up the car (including repurchase), the qualified referrer can participate in Team Special incentives for ‘Treasure Box’ points reward, and get 1 quarterly Treasure Box lottery chance.”
The site says, “accumulatively successfully recommend 20 friends to place the order and pick up the car (including repurchase), and the qualified referrer can also get an additional chance to draw the annual Treasure Box.”
Tesla says the first quarterly sweepstakes will start on January 1, 2023.
With Tesla China launching a referral program, it seems the referral program will be returning to North America as well. Code within the Tesla iOS app already hinted the program will soon make its comeback.
