Tesla Referral Program Reboot for Free Supercharging, Merchandise Hinted in App Code

Tesla’s mobile app version 4.14.1 has been released, and suggests the company’s referral program may be coming back to life, according to the app code, says @TeslaAppUpdates.

The account says that the strings make it look like users will be able to go to a digital shop to use referral credits on specific merch items as well.

One particular string found says, “Use my referral link to purchase a Tesla product and get free credits you can redeem for awards like Supercharging miles, merchandise and accessories.” This seems like an indicator the program might be coming back.

While no specifics are mentioned, it appears the referral credits will be able to be used for more than just merchandise, including accessories and Supercharging miles.

In the Tesla update 4.14.0 on iOS, the automaker added the ability to unlatch driver-side doors from the app for Model 3 and Y drivers. Additionally, the update includes new lock screen widgets for iPhone users.

The Tesla car software update 2022.36.1 also added features to the app, including certain media controls and the addition of ETA figures in navigation mode.

Back in September 2021, Tesla ended its referral program for free Supercharging ‘until further notice’. Essentially, friends and family buying a new Tesla using your code would provide referrers with free Supercharging as a reward. Tesla’s referral program still exists but only for Solar Roof and Solar Panels.

Update: A reference found mentions Loot 2.0, essentially the reboot of the Loot Box for referrals, with a support site link pointing to tesla.com/support/loot-box that is not live yet.
