As Tesla rolls out its software update 2022.28, the automaker is also apparently rolling out a new navigation feature which lets drivers select from multiple different routes.

Tesla plans to add an “alternate routes” function to navigation in the U.S. in software update 2022.28.1, as reported by Not a Tesla App, citing an anonymous source.

The update adds the multiple route feature to Tesla’s current navigation system, displaying as many as three routes for a chosen destination.

The update will update the total travel time for each route, and for users of Premium Connectivity, Tesla will also show traffic information for each route.

Similar to the “Traffic Along Route” feature, the route will be highlighted in multiple colors, signifying the density of traffic on a given route, and letting drivers select the path of their choice.

Tesla’s 2022.28 software update is also adding other features, such as the ability to minimize a video that’s playing back to show the touchscreen’s other control options.

In June, Tesla navigation also added the option to “re-route to a less busy Supercharger,” for when charging stations on your route are full or extremely busy.

Tesla also added improvements to navigation energy predictions in its software update 2022.16.0.2 in May, in addition to driver profiles and other improvements.
